I’m Ellie, a Washington, D.C. based drift and automotive photographer, shooting everything from grassroots tandems to beautifully staged cars, all on film and digital. My work is driven by a love for speed, style, and storytelling. Whether it’s the smoke pouring off a rear bumper mid-drift or the soft glow of vintage headlights, I’m drawn to moments that feel both fleeting and timeless.
I shoot on 35mm and medium format film because I love the process: loading the camera, developing, scanning, all of it. Film forces me to slow down and be intentional. It keeps me present at the track and reminds me to shoot with care, which is particularly helpful at chaotic events. There’s risk in film. You can’t “fix it in post.” But that’s what makes it beautiful. Even with the occasional imperfections, it always delivers a look and feel that digital can’t replicate.
HyperFest 2023 was a turning point for me; I learned as I went and was lucky to be surrounded by photographers who encouraged me. That kind of support is what motivates me now to give back. I teach people how to develop and scan film at home, and I’m working on launching workshops to help more folks take control of their creative process. I believe in making space for others in this world, especially those who are just starting out.
I want people to feel something when they look at my work, even if they don’t care about cars or motorsport. Nostalgia, movement, mood, beauty... that’s the goal. I’m especially drawn to JDM and Euro cars, anything boxy or angular, and clean builds driven with heart. If a driver is driving hard, I’m shooting just as hard.
At the end of the day, I’m a human before I’m a photographer. I bring care, communication, and intentionality to every project. I’m here to make timeless images, support a growing film community, and help people follow their passions, just like I followed mine.
Whether you're behind the wheel or behind the lens, it's all about chasing something worth remembering and capturing the moments that matter most.
